14 He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, 15 for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even before he is born.
Zechariah was told that his baby boy, John the Baptist, would be filled with the Holy Spirit already in the womb of his mother. He would have a spiritual maturity from birth that his peers just didn’t have. He’d look around, observe, take things in, and have an understanding of things his peers just didn’t get.
Maybe you sometimes feel that way. As we live in a world that is becoming less and less Christian, we see things and understand things at a deeper level than others. It can become discouraging and we might struggle with the thought of giving up. But John didn’t and neither should we. Why? Because Jesus is coming to take us to heaven soon, and there are people in our life that need to hear that. God be with you as you tell other’s about the Savior whose birth we are about to celebrate.
